Apply for a Basic account

If you're unable to open a regular bank account, you may be eligible for a Basic account with limited features — like payments, transfers, and ATM withdrawals.

Check if you're eligible

You can apply for a Basic account if you meet any of the following conditions:

You live in the EU, and don't hold (or aren't currently applying for) an account with another bank in Portugal
You're a co-holder of a basic bank account (existing or the one you'll be opening) with a person over 65 years of age or with a duly certified permanent disability of 60% or more, if that person has no other accounts — but don't solely hold an account
You've been notified that your current account will be closed
You hold a current account but want to convert it to a basic bank account

If you already hold a current account, you can convert it into a Basic account at no cost. Or, you can close your existing account and open a Basic account.

This regulated current account for private use offers low-cost access to a set of banking services considered essential. All persons aged 18 or over who satisfy the eligibility criteria are entitled to this service. Use ATMs in Portugal and in the European Union for free
Deposit and withdraw money, pay for goods and services, and schedule Direct Debits
Make unlimited transfers to other Revolut customers and external banks
